Dear Readers,
Ever since the day that my thriller QUICKSAND was released in the spring of
2008, roughly half of my letters and emails have asked one question: “When
will the next Eve Duncan book be coming out?”
I happy to report that the day is almost here: BLOOD GAME will be released
on October 20th. Although it works as a standalone book, it does explore
the rather surprising development at the end of QUICKSAND. I won’t spoil
the surprise for those who may not be in the know, but that twist elicited a
more enthusiastic reader reaction than anything I’ve ever written in my
career. I can’t tell you how satisfying it was to go back and explore the
implications it has for those characters, particularly Joe.
Of course, BLOOD GAME also features a suspenseful new case for Eve.
When the daughter of a U.S. senator is murdered and her body is drained of
its blood, investigators realize that they have a bizarre new serial killer on
their hands. Eve is drawn in to the case not by the authorities, but by the
killer himself, who leaves her a chilling calling card. I won’t give away any
more, except to say that the killer is BLOOD GAME is perhaps the most
unusual (and, I hope, terrifying) villain I’ve ever created.
I recently sat down with a camera crew to discuss BLOOD GAME and Eve
Duncan, and you can watch the video here. I made sure to answer many of
the questions you’ve been asking, so please take a look!
October 20th also marks the paperback release of DEADLOCK, which
features United Nations antiquities expert Emily Hudson, who leads a team
that travels the world recovering and protecting priceless artifacts. But on her
latest mission she uncovers a deadly conspiracy… a plot that may have
global ramifications.
